Circatree is a business
Circatree is a consulting company that creates solutions to business problems through design and technology. Circatree is the sole proprietorship of Steve Oliver, established in San Diego (2008) to provide professional web development and internet support services to his clients. Since 2000, Steve has produced e-commerce websites for fiction authors and surfboard manufacturers, developed multimedia portals for electronic music communities and professional photographers, and designed corporate identities for luxury vacation rental and organic food companies, with like minded artists and engineers on the award-winning web framework Drupal.
Circatree is a project
The actions of Circatree are inspired by what Alfred North Whitehead called A Want of Relations Between the Different Departments of Knowledge. Terence McKenna also lectured extensively and wrote several books about the evolution of consciousness, origins of religion and language, and the nature of time. He and other greater thinkers have greatly influenced my mind since 2001, and have contributed to my thinking about the connections between art, science, love, and novelty.
By Fall 2004, I was rapidly discovering new music--mostly electronic-- and the philosophies of Whitehead, McKenna, and Ken Wilber with my buddy Jacob. We were playing a game of ping-pong one night in 2004 when I heard the word circuitry and saw it spelled "circatree". It had no meaning, but I liked it. There was something about it. By that time I had become obsessed with trees and their similarities to humans. Specifically, the fractal nature of reality: that each whole is a part of a larger whole, which is part of yet another whole, infinitely.
I became fascinated with the patterns and cycles I saw around me. I began to visualize the transfer of energy in and through my body as the same currency (prana, spirit) that connects people, elements, and situations. I continually discovered the relations between different departments of knowledge: biology, technology, information, communication, weather, emotion; I came to understand the similarities of computers and living organisms, as digital networks exhibit organic growth like natural environments. I had applied the techniques I used in computer programming to ways of looking at objects and environments.

So the project is: develop connections.
